As most modern day romances start, Caroline and Kyle met on the apps-thanks Hinge! And, as most online dating goes, one of them tried to bail out before their story could even begin (well done Caroline). Fortunately, Kyle persisted and after some (reluctant) rescheduling, Caroline and Kyle met at Balzac's Cafe on Saturday, January 25, 2020. To this day, Caroline says cancelling on Kyle is the worst mistake she (almost) made.

The couple started their relationship expecting it to progress as most new relationships do, when an unexpected twist, the Pandemic, changed their plans. Caroline and Kyle had just gotten back from a movie (The Invisible Man, Caroline did not enjoy it) when the lockdown was announced. It took all of 5 seconds for them to decide that they'd isolate together. Pandemics are a great crash course in dating, but in general, we would not recommend them. Making it through unscathed made it clear to Caroline and Kyle that they were ready for the next step.

3.5 years later, Caroline and Kyle were heading up north to see the fall colours. Little did Caroline know, there were some other plans in store (to be fair, she was a little suspicious). At approximately 100 feet above ground level, looking out over the forest line and the Lake of Bays, Caroline turned around to find Kyle on one knee.
